Aoibhin Maguire is a painter from Belfast, Northern Ireland, whose work explores the overlap between the actual and fictitious in our everyday lives. She obtained her BA in Fine Art from Lancaster University and recently graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in painting.
Rendering complex subject matter in vibrant colour, Maguire incorporates surreal aspects to create a hybrid world where reality and imagination coexist. Recurring motifs and the healing properties of colour transform everyday anxieties into a cohesive narrative that acknowledges the chaos of existence. Ultimately, the constant flux between emotional extremes underpins her entire aesthetic, as fear and desperation run parallel to hope and love.
Aoibhin Maguire lives and works in London.
