Angela Lizon’s oil paintings elevate the kitsch into fine art. Having honed her craft at Bristol Polytechnic and the Krakow Academy of Fine Art in Poland, she recreates authentic moments by mimicking the life-like aesthetic of 20th-century photography.
Inspired by the work of George Stubbs, Lizon’s cat portraits are rendered in astonishing detail, creating a humorous and striking image. Viewers are transfixed by the feline’s hypnotic gaze as she combines masterful technique with a light-hearted, joyful spirit.
Angela Lizon lives and works in Bristol. She won the Exeter Phoenix Open Prize in 2009, and was selected for the John Moores Painting Prize in 2012 and the Threadneedle Prize in 2010. She has exhibited her work internationally.
