This painting is a part of Anna Athena’s series, titled "The Hero's Journey”, a lifelong project to create a large-scale tarot deck consisting of 78 “cards” with different paintings representing a theme or challenge she faced during her personal growth journey.

The World is the last card in the major arcana, no. 21. This card has a special connection to both “The Magician” and “The Devil"; it represents the transformation of The Fool into “The Magician” himself or herself. He/she has mastered the art of manifestation, or magic, by having walked the underworld of his/her own being with “The Devil” as his/her guide. Now The Fool has become "The World"; he/she is one with all the elements and is a being of omnipresence, the Hero.
