This painting is a part of Anna Athena’s series, titled "The Hero's Journey”, a lifelong project to create a large-scale tarot deck consisting of 78 “cards” with different paintings representing a theme or challenge she faced during her personal growth journey.
The Devil is card no. 15. This card is where the seemingly nefarious character of “The Devil” appears; however, he is not what he seems. He guides The Fool into his/her deepest, darkest corners of his/her being to teach the act of liberation and freedom from all that binds him/her. The path The devil guides is multi-layered and never what it seems on the surface.
