This piece was made after my grandad passed away late last year. We were very close. When I came back home from being with my family, my peace lily, which had never bloomed in all the years I’d owned it, had grown a flower. It felt incredibly special, like a quiet final goodbye. Already thinking about time, I wanted to capture that sense of presence.. In this work I wanted to document ideas of home, family and time within this work.
The textile background echoes domestic wallpaper, while the ceramic flowers stand in for my immediate family, held together within that shared space. Wool, hessian, wood and ceramic.
