Simon Dredge

Simon Dredge is a ceramic artist based in Liverpool.

His work is about delving deep into history and recording history through his art. Through his work Simon wants to record LGBT history before it’s forgotten.

Simon delves deep into his own history for his work as well. He records growing up in the 1980s as a gay teenager in the Worcestershire countryside. He chronicles his aspirations as a young man to find a sense of belonging. His absolute obsession with Derek Jarman, Rainer Werner Fassbinder and other filmmakers and artists.

He records his journeys and navigations through the 80s and 90s to find where he belongs.
This journey is ongoing, and now in his 50s, he’s still trying to find out where he belongs.
