A man seen at the top of the painting is being stretchered to safety having been shot in the behind with an arrow.

Carrying him are two friends, one of whom is blushing, either due to the embarrassment of shooting the man or that he knows the truth of how it happened.

The famous game ‘Pin the Tail on the Donkey’ involves trying to stick a tail to a donkey’s butt. The man similarly has been stuck, hence the donkey in the bottom of the painting.
