Jarman by Simon Dredge

Jarman had a lifelong passion for gardening and flowers. It began as a young child and stayed with him for his life.

This piece not only represents his love for florals but also my admiration of Jarman as a multi-disciplinary artist. Through his work and love of gardening, I pushed myself to try and experiment with new techniques. In this plate I used mixed media to combine floral designs with images from his first film, Sebastiane.

I’m inspired to challenge myself and create work that is true to me and honest.

This plate is decorated with black ceramic slip. Black spray paint. Watercolours. Mixed media collage. Acrylic paint. Acrylic inks. Varnished and lacquered.
