Ballerinas dancing on the tops of leaves by Selby Hi

This piece includes individually handmade ceramic fuchsias. It’s a nostalgic work, inspired by a memory from my childhood. On my way home from school, I used to pick the little ‘legs’ off fuchsia flowers and turn them into ballerinas. I’d dance them along the tops of bushes as I walked, imagining little performances with each step. It’s something I still find myself doing now and then, enjoying the small, quiet moments in everyday life.
